Course Overview

High School EMR Program: Instructor Course Description (2025–2026)

As an instructor for the High School EMR Program, you’ll guide students through an essential introduction to emergency medical care using Emergency Medical Responder, 6th Edition (AAOS) as the primary curriculum. Aligned with the National EMS Education Standards, this course offers a solid framework for teaching students the critical skills, knowledge, and decision-making processes of the first responder.

The 6th Edition from AAOS integrates evidence-based practices and updated content in areas such as trauma care, medical emergencies, infection control, and responder wellness. These enhancements ensure students are receiving the most relevant and up-to-date information to prepare them for real-world emergencies.

Through interactive instruction, skill-building labs, and scenario-based learning, you’ll equip students with the tools and confidence they need to respond effectively in emergency situations. By the end of the course, students will have developed the foundational competencies necessary to pursue further EMS education or begin a pathway toward a career in emergency services.
