Our district partners
McAllen ISD
EMTS instructors teach McAllen ISD’s District-wide Practicum in EMT II, held on campus at Achieve Early College High School. It is a two-year program: students earn Emergency Medical Responder certification in year one and work toward EMT-Basic certification in year two.
Edinburg CISD
A two-year pathway: juniors start with an emergency care course and move into the senior EMT course. The district CTE teacher leads the classroom and EMTS serves as the DSHS approved program of record.
PSJA ISD
The EMT course runs in the Health Science pathway at the PSJA Collegiate School of Health Professions, with EMTS as the DSHS approved program of record.
Two ways to run the program
EMTS teaches the course
EMTS supplies the instructor and runs the class day to day on your campus, along with every program of record service below.
Your teacher, our program
Your district CTE teacher leads the classroom. EMTS provides the DSHS program approval, curriculum, teacher support, clinicals, skills labs and testing verification.
What EMTS provides
- DSHS program approval and National Registry course completion verification
- A DSHS certified course coordinator and a medical director
- Curriculum built for high school learners, plus teacher support
- Clinical affiliations, ambulance ride-outs and hospital rotations
- Skills laboratories and psychomotor skills testing
- A vehicle extrication and mass casualty incident (MCI) scenario day
- The EMTS learning management system, clinical documentation software and NREMT readiness app
- An end of year report on enrollment, completion, National Registry results and clinical hours
The program fits a Health Science program of study and supports your district’s industry-based certification and College, Career and Military Readiness goals.

Frequently asked questions
Can high school students become certified EMTs?
Students complete the full DSHS approved EMT course in high school and prepare for the National Registry exam. Texas DSHS certification requires a person to be at least 18, so many seniors apply for certification once they turn 18.
Who teaches the class?
It depends on the district. EMTS can supply the instructor, or the district can use its own CTE teacher with EMTS serving as the DSHS approved program of record, providing curriculum, coordination, clinicals and skills support.
What does EMTS handle for the district?
DSHS program approval and National Registry course verification, the course coordinator and medical director, curriculum built for high school students, clinical affiliations and ride-outs, skills laboratories, a vehicle extrication and MCI scenario day, and an end of year report.
Can the program start with EMR or ECA?
Yes. Districts can run a junior-year EMR or ECA course that feeds a senior-year EMT course, so students build skills over two years.
How do we get started?
Call (956) 328-3040 or email [email protected]. We meet with your CTE team, design the program around your schedule, and send a proposal and memorandum of understanding.
